Sleaford Chapel

Our Chapel

The first Methodist services were held in Sleaford around 1776. Thomas Fawcett led the way to build the first Wesleyan chapel in 1802. The Methodists soon outgrew this place in Westgate and rebuilt on the same site with the addition of a Sunday School in 1823. But growth soon meant another move to the current site on Northgate. Architect James Simpson designed the yellow brick chapel, and it opened on September 28, 1848. Our current chapel evolved from this earlier 18th-century meeting place into a major Wesleyan chapel, which was rebuilt again in 1972.

Service Times

  • Sunday Services: begin at 10.30 am, followed by refreshments.

  • Regular events include our Friday Tea, Weekly bible study, Walking group, Leasingham Fellowship, Eco Church group, and our soon-to-open New Roots Project. Regular additional events can be seen below.

Welcome to our church

We are a friendly local church in Sleaford, rooted in God's love and committed to serving our community. A small church with a BIG heart, we are a church family where everyone is known, welcomed and cared for.

For many years and generations, members have worshipped together and served God, creating a strong foundation of love, prayer and biblical faith. Whether you are just exploring faith, looking for a church home or visiting for the first time, we believe that everyone has a place in God's family, and we would be delighted to journey in faith together with you.

Whilst we cherish our rich history, we continue to look forward with hope and a willingness to grow and expand our ministry, offering a range of activities and opportunities to connect.

Our services are Christ-centred, traditional, but not old-fashioned and always finish with warm drinks, biscuits and great conversation!

Chapel Events

Coming very soon, our New Roots weekly cafe, will open every Tuesday morning, to welcome anyone from overseas who is new to the area seeking friendship, information, and connection.

Sleaford are currently striving to reach our Gold Status Eco Award for Churches. We believe that everyone doing their part will help protect our planet and ensure stability for the generations that follow in our footsteps. We have an Eco Team that you can get involved with if you are interested in helping with this project.

Every Christmas, we host the town Christmas tree Festival. Local businesses and organisations enter a tree they have dressed, and we invite the public in to see the different creations. It is a family event where everyone has the opportunity to see the talents and often unusual creations that are part of this unique event. Come see for yourself; dates and details to follow soon.
